Games Analyst
We are looking for a Games Analyst to join the team in our Central London studio.

Job Description

At Hutch, we aim to make the best mobile racing games in the world. When we launch a game, that’s just the start: we use player feedback and most critically data to figure out how to make each game the best it can be. There are so many opportunities to identify insights in our data that we can’t keep up – and that’s where you come in.

As a Games Analyst, you’ll primarily be figuring out what our player data means and what we should do about it, while also augmenting our analytics stack to make our analyses more powerful and efficient.

You’ll be helping assess and optimise our marketing campaigns to maximise profitability, and getting involved with in-game economy design in our forthcoming titles.

Hutch believes in empowering and trusting our teams. We work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and have flexible hours the rest of the time. Ideas for our games are welcomed from all parts of the business.

The four-person growth & insight team is currently evenly split male/female, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Some examples of the work you will be involved in:

  • Designing and analysing control-based experiments on in-game parameters
  • Analysing player data to identify problem areas or missed opportunities
  • Working with game designers and engineers to solve design problems
  • Building models to estimate performance where tracking is either missing or not possible
  • Building a dedicated database to bring together our marketing spend and return data

Desired Skills & Experience

Essential: You’re deeply comfortable with numbers. Your instinctive approach to any problem is to quantify it first. You always notice when news reports fail to contextualise numbers. Your analysis has led to quantifiable improvements. You’ve got two or more years of experience in an analytical role.

Desirable. Two is fine. None are essential:
  • Curious – driven to discover underlying explanations of things, just for fun
  • Excel mastery – ever used multi-line formulae, or automated a data import/export? Great!
  • SQL confidence –experience with front-end use and back-end development would be handy
  • Perhaps you play games, and have ideas about what makes something fun
  • You might enjoy communicating your findings with great data visualisations
  • Experience in statistics, modelling, or other such generally useful techniques, is useful
  • You’ve played a game by Hutch and have some good ideas on how to improve it!
